For those of us who are everything to everybody, here’s something for YOU! CBD is for everyone, especially MOMS!
One reason is probably enough but I’m going to actually discuss 5 reasons moms need CBD in their lives. Being a mom is the single greatest accomplishment of my life. Actually, let me re-phrase that: Keeping my kids alive, and thereby maintaining my “Mom” status, while staying sane is seriously amazing to me. As a working mom of two, wife, and aspiring master multi-tasker, I look for all the things to help me stay effective, keep fuel in the tank, while taking time for myself. CBD has become part of my routine. Here are five reasons, Fellow Moms, that you need CBD too!
1) CBD Can Reduce Anxiety
Anxiety? Nah. I don’t have that…or do I? You don’t need a full-on diagnoses to experience daily anxiety. Anxiety is that little creep that lives in your brain that creates worry when we don’t really need to worry. Do you ever get everyone off to school/work/or wherever, and then wonder for the next hour(s) worrying if everyone made it or has everything they need, or if you forgot something? Do you ever leave the house and worry if a light was turned off, or if water is running or if the dog is going to get out? That’s not necessarily full-blown anxiety, but when we are ping-ponging from kid drop-offs, to work, to appointments, and coordinating life details – the cumulative effect can be overwhelming and can make us anxious.
Enter CBD.
There is a lot of research out there about whether or not CBD is nothing more than snake oil. Reputable studies have discovered that CBD does interact with the cannabinoid type 1 receptor (CB1R), the serotonin 5-HT1A receptor, and other receptors in the brain that regulate fear and anxiety-induced behaviors. What does this mean? As a busy mom, I really don’t care to dive too far into the details. I don’t have time! I just want relief, now. Rather than getting hooked on Xanax or something with seriously scary side effects, trying CBD sounds A-OK to me!
My routine: I wake up and add 50 milligrams of CBD tincture to my first cup of coffee every day. The vanilla flavor adds to my coffee experience, and I really do feel that the CBD charge that I get starts my day off better than without.
2) CBD for Better Sleep
To all you sleep deprived moms out there: I SEE YOU! Holy crap, if only the night stopped when the kids go to bed! But if you’re me, your mind is racing and you may REALLY want to hit the sack, but it’s just not always happening right when you when you want.
Oh hey, CBD. You help with sleep too?
Well, if it helps with your anxiety, chances are CBD may help you sleep too. A lot of us lose sleep because of anxiety. Quiet the worries, and you may find that deep sleep you need tonight to be Supermom tomorrow!
When I feel like I need that deep deep sleep and I need a chill sesh to get there, I smoke CBD moon rocks. I know. I know. That almost makes me sound like a loadie. Not the case, hear me out.
I hate smoking, mostly. I really do. But there are times when exceptions can be made for a lot of things, including smoking. As I’ve grown-up and been able to sort through the stigma of “drugs” (Thanks Bill, my 6th grade D.A.R.E officer!), I have found that the stigma around smoking is (mostly) just plain ridiculous. I’m not talking about chain-smoking Marlboro Lights (GROSS), I’m talking about occasional, meditative, if not therapeutic smoking. Just look at other cultures and you’ll understand what I mean. You’re not a dirtbag if you smoke! Plus, smoking is the quickest, most efficient way to get the most CBD in your system!
So back to going to sleep, some nights I reach for CBD moon rocks to start the wind-down process. If you’re not familiar, CBD moon rocks are considered a concentrate. CBD moon rocks are made from a small hemp flower bud, dipped in CBD distillate, infused with terpenes, and coated in kief. The resulting product contains almost 50% CBD and almost zero THC! They light up like a little candle in a pipe. The terpenes on CBD moon rocks make for a strong pleasant smell, and add to the entourage effect. A couple of relaxed, slow drags, and I feel immediately calm. The high dose gives a much more noticeable head change, without feeling high. This change and feeling of calm is just what I need some nights to settle down into blissful sleep.
3) CBD Can Help Reduce Pain
Let’s face it, we aren’t getting any younger. With age, comes those little aches and pains, and sometimes major injuries, with lifetime, ongoing repercussions. Supermoms need to get on with being awesome, regardless of pain. How can we do it all and feel better?
Uh, hey, CBD? You there? Do you help with pain?
The answer for some of us, is YES! CBD may help reduce inflammation. Much like my friend Vitamin I (some people still call it Ibuprofen), CBD has been found to reduce inflammation, but without melting your stomach!
There is evidence that suggests you may be able to alleviate pain/inflammation using CBD tincture, via smoking, and topically. When I have acute muscle pain – perhaps because my back hurts from carrying my kid to bed after she fell asleep watching a movie (oof). I like to use a topical aide right where it hurts. Look for something that penetrates the skin and has natural ingredients. I like the JAXON muscle rub for my aches and pains. It’s not greasy or too forward with the menthol, and it works for me!
4) CBD for PMS and Related Symptoms
Ah, part of the reason a lot of us are moms in the first place – our uterous! For some of us, about 1/4th of our fertile existence is spent on our period. As life swirls around us, it can feel like there is a storm raging within us. From emotional surges, to physical pain, and that shortened fuse – that time of the month can feel pretty ugly for some of us.
Knock knock.
Who’s there?
CBD!
Yes! CBD may help! These ailments brought on by our menstral cycle can be softened, and perhaps eliminated using CBD. There are parallels from other CBD uses that may provide relief when Aunt Flo visits. As mentioned previously, using CBD may help with anxiety, sleep, pain, and it might even help with irritability. That little bit of chill that comes with CBD might be just what you need to keep calm and chive on during that time of the month.
CBD may also help with cramps, while encouraging more restful sleep. Our moon time can be exhausting and painful. Using CBD in place of addictive sleep aids, and over-the-counter pain medication may provide better relief with fewer consequences. A meditative smoke just may be the ticket! Think of it as an adult time-out, a productive deep breath, time to yourself. Phew.
It gets better. Giving into cravings can be productive! I reach for a CBD infused chocolate bar to satisfy cravings and keep cramps at bay. I also have been known to whip up some brownies or cookies with vanilla-flavored CBD tincture.
5) CBD for Self Care
The days are long, but the years are short. Life seems to fly by even faster whilst raising children. Moms, we gotta do what we can when we can to slow it down. If you don’t think you have time, carve out a few minutes anyway. Make it a habit! We all deserve to take time for our own self care. In fact, we are better caregivers when we take care of ourselves. Adding CBD into your self care regimen could be a very good thing for your mind, body, and soul.
Use topical CBD to relax and rejuvenate. Whether it’s part of a spa treatment in a lotion, body salve, or muscle rub, topical CBD delivers cannabinoids to receptors in the skin, rather than into the bloodstream. Say goodbye to localized inflammation and get ready to feel refreshed.
Add CBD tincture to a cocktail or tea as you wind down for the evening. Take a moment, some slow sips, and relax.
Have a smoke. Find a quiet place. Grab a joint, blunt, pipe, or bong and take that adult version of a timeout.

Motherhood truly is the greatest part of my existence, yet it is also one of the hardest undertakings of my adult life. Being present, available, rested, and patient are just some of the virtues that I strive to be for my kids and everyone else. Employing CBD as a natural aid has been helpful for me, to say the least. Give it a shot, Fellow Moms, your sanity just might thank you!!!
