What Is Kief and How Do You Consume It?

Have you ever looked closely at all those little sticky crystals all over hemp flower and wondered what they were? Well, they’re called kief and they are just one part of the trichomes of a plant. It is also referred to as dry sift or pollen in the industry. Kief itself is specifically the resin glands that house terpenes and cannabinoids that make each strain so unique.

Before being harvested, trichomes that house it play a big role in protecting the plant from the environment and herbivores. How do you consume kief?

Once it is extracted down to just the powdery substance that is pure kief, there are many ways to enjoy it. It is awesome for adding to foods like your favorite mocha drink or homemade butters. A little tip: make sure you decarboxylate the kief if you’re going to cook with it to make sure the cannabinoids are activated!
